Description of the facility
Kharkiv National University of Arts named after I.P. Kotlyarevsky is one of the leading and oldest higher educational institutions of Ukraine, a creative, scientific and methodical center of music and theater education in the Slobozhan region.
Over the hundred years of its existence, the university has trained tens of thousands of specialists in the field of musical and theatrical art, including recognized performers, teachers and scientists. About 1,000 of them have honorary and government awards, titles of laureates of state awards of Ukraine, people's and honored artists, honored artists, scientific degrees of doctors and candidates of sciences, scientific titles of professors and associate professors.
As part of the international partnership, the university expands creative and scientific contacts with foreign music and theater higher educational institutions of the USA, Italy, Germany, Poland, Finland, France, Switzerland. University teachers are invited to the jury of international competitions and festivals, conduct master classes in Ukraine and abroad, and graduates work successfully in Australia, England, America, Denmark, Israel, Germany, Russia, France, etc.
Interesting Facts
The building, located at 11 Constitution Square, was built in 1900 according to the project of the architect B.H. Mikhailovsky as a three-story residential complex with shops on the first floor, in the neo-Renaissance style. In 1929-30, reconstruction took place according to the project of architect P.Z. Krupka with a superstructure of two floors while preserving the stylistic characteristics and features.
The neighboring building, at 13 Constitution Square, erected in 1925, according to the design of the architect O. V. Linetskyi, was reconstructed for the Commodity Exchange. The monument is a characteristic example of the first romantic searches of the young Ukrainian architecture of that time by combining certain techniques of the "modern" style with the use of Renaissance forms and elements symbolizing the onset of a new era.
Destruction
Due to shelling by the russian army on March 3, 2022. The buildings were partially destroyed: roof coverings, windows, facade decoration were damaged.
