Description of the institution

The museum was housed in an estate of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Almost 10,000 exhibits were stored here. This is an exposition of fauna, minerals: oil, condensate, cores, mollusk prints on limestone, a collection of ceramics, archeology, paintings, personal belongings of Ostap Vyshna, Bagryany, Antonenko-Davydovych and other figures.

Destruction

On the night of March 7-8, a bomb fell on the City Council, which also destroyed the museum. The bomb exploded three meters from the facility, so the building was badly damaged. The museum has a destroyed roof, floor coverings, cracked walls, broken windows and doors.

There were practically no losses among the exhibits, but the museum building, a landmark of local importance, cannot be repaired. Currently, the museum has moved to the former children's library.

What will the money be used for?

The amount of UAH 124 800 000 includes the complete restoration of the building — repair of the roof, floor coverings, replacement of authentic windows and doors. We will also spend 7 800 000 of these funds on conducting research and design works that will determine the full scope of work necessary to restore the building.
